Nature Scavenger Hunt
Today we went on a Nature Scavenger Hunt. We found spider webs, nests, paper birch trees, rocks, different coloured leaves and lots of other interesting natural items. We went for a long walk in the forest. It was a beautiful day to be outside. We had a picnic outside at lunch time. Mrs. Kitson read us the book. We are Going on a Leaf Hunt. We talked about what happens when Autumn turns into Winter. We exercised like different animals in the gym. We had an awesome day outside.

Painting Lines
Today Mrs. Kitson read us a book about lines. We drew different types of lines and filled in our drawing with water colour paints. Our pictures are beautiful. We talked about bus safety. Ask me how I should behave on the bus. We talked about the letter E. We talked about its super powers. It can say its name and it also has another sound. We sorted objects and matched numerals to our groups. We had a sharing circle. We talked about being a good friend. We had lots of fun playing outside in the forest. We looked for signs of animals that live in our forest. We found a frog, a worm and some kind of insect. We talked about what animals live in our forest and what they do in autumn to prepare for winter. We played a fun animal tag game. We had a fun day in Kindergarten.
Wednesday is Hat Day. Your child can wear a hat to school this day. It is also early dismissal. Your child will be receiving a poppy to wear on Friday. The children are asked to wear black or dark colours. You can send a contribution to the poppy fund if you like.

Halloween Fun
Today we had a fun Halloween Party. We made popcorn hands, decorated pumpkin cookies, and worked on other fun crafts. We got prizes after we finished our crafts. Mrs. Kitson read us a story about Hobgoblins. It was a five senses story. We smelled a fire pot. Tasted special silver morsels, patted and ate a slippery worm, felt rain falling and listened to a thunderstorm. We also saw a sparkly green light and looked through a special green paper. It was a cool story. At the end of the day we had a Halloween Building challenge. We tried to build the tallest tower with marshmallows, chocolates and cookies. The best part was eating our tower. It was a silly, spooky day in Kindergarten.

Turtle Island Learning about Canada
Today we met Jeremy Albert (EIPS FNMI Education Advisor). He told us the story of Turtle Island. We looked at a big map of Canada. He taught us some Cree words. We played a fun Simon Says game. In the afternoon we talked about poetry. We made our own poems. We are very good poets. We had a fun day in Kindergarten.

The Tree of Life
Today we learned about the artist, Gustav Klimit. He liked to draw lines, and shapes. We looked at his painting, The Tree of Life. We made our own trees. We made swirly lines and different circles. We practiced our cutting skills. We matched numbers with objects. We looked for the letter d in our friends' names. We practiced our sorting skills, and wrote the sentence I like.... in our lifebooks. Mrs. Kitson read us the books, I am a Rainbow, by Dolly Parton, and Pink is for Boys. We talked about the different words we can use to describe our feelings. We used rhythm sticks in music class. We had fun moving in different ways in gym class. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Hunches in Bunches, by Dr.Seuss. We made up our own silly rhymes. It was a fun day in Kindergarten.

Fun in the Snow
Today we took our nature backpacks outside. We played with our shovels in the sand and the snow. In the morning we practiced our letter sounds. We talked about the letter H and looked for the letter in our names. We played a dice game. We are practicing our subitizing skills. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, A Walk in The Rain with a Brain. We talked about how are brains are all different and we are all smart in different ways. We had a sharing circle and talked about our own smart brains. We had fun playing a rhyming game. We listened for rhyming words and made silly rhyming sentences. We can play rhyming games at home. We had a fun day in Kindergarten!
