Where did The Gingerbread Man Go?
Today Mrs. Kitson read us the story, The Gingerbread Boy, by Paul Galdone. We made Gingerbread Men cookies. We talked about the ingredients in the cookies. We learned where nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger come from. We coloured our own gingerbread man storybook. We played a dice game and we decorated our own gingerbread man. Mrs. Kitson read two other versions of The Gingerbread Man story. We talked about what was the same and what was different between the two books. In the afternoon, Mrs. Kitson baked the cookies. We went to the Foods room to get our cookies and the Three big cookies disappeared. We went for a walk around the school to see if we could find them. When we got back we decorated our cookies. They were yummy! We could not find the Gingerbread Men cookies anywhere. It was a Gingy kind of day!

Land Art
Today we went outside and made land art. We collected red, yellow, brown and green leaves. We made a big mandala out of our collections. In the morning we talked about the difference between a letter and an number. We listened for the sounds in our names. We used our playdough to count out the sounds in our name. We made little balls for each sound. Mrs.Kitson read us the book, We all Make Mistakes by Todd Parr. In Music we learned the chant, Here is the Beehive. At the end of the day we watched the junior high's tricycle race. We had a fun day in Kindergarten.

Nature Art
Today we went outside for centers. We made letters out of natural materials. We talked about the letters s,a,t and p. Mrs.kitson made up a funny story about a pink pig. We watched a video of a nature artist named Andy Goldsworthy. He makes art out of nature. We made our own nature art. We danced outside and we went for our Terry Fox run. You can click this link, Give to Terry Fox and participate in our school fund raiser. We talked about the chores we did to make money. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Oopsie-Do. We talked about how everyone makes mistakes and that it is okay. We went to the gym and did cosmic stretching. We had a fun day in Kindergarten

We Love Painting
Today Mrs. Kitson talked to us about Terry Fox. We talked about how he is a hero. Our school is raising money for The Terry Fox Foundation. Look in my kanga pouch to see what we can do to help. You can donate through our school website. Mrs. Kitson told us the story about Three sisters. We have a Three sisters garden at school. Ask me about the story and about what the three plants are.In the morning we talked about the letters ,s,a and t. We learned that one of our friends has a secret in her name. It is the (th) sound. We had fun painting and playing with our treasure boxes. We wrote in our lifebook about Terry Fox. We practiced the better alphabet song. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, In my Heart, a book about Feelings. We talked about how it is okay to feel all the different feelings. We had fun in music and we had a great mask break in the gym where we did cosmic stretching. We had a great day in nature!

We Love Nature
Today We talked about the letter A. We noticed that many of our friends have the letter a in their names. Three of our friends have special a names. Mrs. Kitson told us two special secrets about when a has a friend like u or ar. She told us that a makes new sounds. One of our friends said he is getting a hairless cat. We wondered what that was so we watched a video of hairless kittens. They were so cute. We were surprised that they have to have baths.We had so much fun finger painting. It was messy fun. We sorted with our math tubs and played with our treasure boxes. We talked about what a community is and went on a virtual field trip around our community using google maps. We drew about our community in our lifebook. We went into the forest and Mrs. Kitson read us her favourite book, The Giving Tree. Ask me about the book. We went on a I see something interesting nature hike and built structures with sticks. We had a fun day in Kindergarten

Finding our Special Tree
Today we went into the forest and we looked for our special tree. We will visit our tree throughout the school year. Mrs. Kitson read us the book,Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf. It was also about a special tree. We went for a nature walk in the woods. We stopped when we saw something interesting to share with our friends. We had a wonderful mask break. We stopped and took time to breathe in the fresh air. In the morning we practiced sorting objects in our math tubs. We talked about sorting by colour, size and shape. We played the sorting people game.We will be talking about other ways to sort too. We can look around our house and find ways that we sort things at home. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Chrysanthemum, by Kevin Henkes. Ask me about the book. We are learning about the sounds of the letters of the alphabet. We are looking at our names. We talked about the letter S today. Mrs. Kitson made up a silly story with snakes, spiders and a santa. You can make up a silly S story with me. I can help you come up with S words. We played with our treasure boxes and wrote in our lifebooks. We played duck, duck goose in the gym and moved to Bop till you drop, and Listen and Move . We sang grandma's glasses and There was a Little Turtle. It was a fun day in Kindergarten
