How to Catch a Leprechaun

Today the Gingerbread Man sent us an email. He has a leprechaun friend who made him a green jelly bean smoothie. He sent us a book about a leprechaun loose in the school. The Leprechaun came to The Maker Space. He left us gold coins. We turned in two coins and received two candies. We made leprechaun traps. We tried to catch him. We wrote down popcorn words around the room. We worked on a math booklet. we circled groups of objects. If there are five objects we learned that everyone sees the objects differently. We can try this at home. We circle the popcorn word, look in our little St Patrick's Day book. We looked at pictures of places all over the world that turned green today. Ask me about the river in Chicago. We had a great time playing outside in the sand. We had a pot of gold day in Kindergarten.

Pretzel Time

Today The Gingerbread Man sent us an email. He told us how he made pretzels on the weekend. He sent us a book, It was Walter the Baker, by Eric Carle. Ask me about the book. We made pretzels with Mrs. D. They were yummy. We sounded out the ingredient words with Mrs. K. Don't worry if they are not spelled correctly. We talked about the secrets, er and ou. Ask me about the secrets. We played a subitizing game. We looked at a variety of dot arrangements and had to find the number we rolled on our dice. It is hard to see the numbers 4 and 5. We keep practicing. We circled all the popcorn words in The Gingerbread Man's email. There were 21 words. We talked about the new popcorn word, Look. We are practicing listening for sounds at the beginning and end of words. We are also clapping the syllables. We had fun playing outside. It was a twisty kind of day in Kindergarten.

We played a counting game with unifix cubes. We played power of 10. We are practicing seeing numbers without counting. We can use dice at home to practice. We should be comfortable seeing lots of different items arranged in different ways up to the number 5. ( like dot arrangements that are different than on a dice). Mrs. Kitson read us the book, There was an Old Lady that Swallowed a Puck. It was a funny rhyming book. We sang The Better Alphabet Song. We sang a very hard version where we had to sing only the sounds. We had fun playing outside. It was an owly day in Kindergarten.

Making Ramps

Today we played with lots of cool stuff in The Maker Space. The Gingerbread man sent us an email. He likes to trick us to make sure we are looking at the letters at the start of the words when we are reading his email. He sent us a book about a special lady that liked chimpanzees. We learned about Jane Goodall. We played a game where we had to listen to a word and then replace the first letter with another letter and say the new word. It is very hard brain work. We had fun playing, What time is is Mr. Wolf and Popcorn in the gym. It was a fun day in Kindergarten
