Valentine Day Fun

Today we had a fun Valentine's Day Celebration day. The Gingerbread Man sent us two Valentine books. We really liked the book about Chomp, the lemon shark. Ask me about the book. We made a valentine book about colours. We had to look at the first letter of the word to find out what colour word it was. We made a number book too. We made a candy heart graph and compared numbers. We even ate the candy. We decorated a cookie and made a special card for our parents. We tried to make the highest candy tower. It was hard! We had fun playing a four corners Valentine game in the gym. We had a little popcorn and a little movie at the end of the day. It was a sweet kind of Kindergarten day!

Our Hearts Beep for YOU!

Today we talked about RESPECT. Respect for ourselves, respect for our friends and respect for our classroom and community. We talked about what respect looks like. Ask me about respect. We made our own valentine robots. We used our creativity to come up with our own unique robots. The Gingerbread Man sent us one of his favourite books. Breathe by Scott Magoon. We practiced different types of breathing. We played a math game. Our friend had to guess how many objects we were hiding. We talked about Love and described what love is. It was so cold outside! We stayed inside for recess. We had a cozy day in school. We were wrapped in the love of our community.

We will have a valentine day celebration on Thursday. Just a reminder that we can not accept any outside cards or treats. I do have special treats and activities for the children. Stay Warm! Friday will also be pyjama day!

Everyone is Someone

Today Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Gregory's Shadow. Ask me about Groundhog Day. We also watched the video book, Everyone is Someone. Ask me about these books. Today we played a fun math game called Bump it. We are practicing seeing numbers without counting. (subitizing) We practiced making patterns and practiced our letter sounds. There are many activities on Mrs. Kitson's web page to help learn the letters of the alphabet. We played special drums in music. We played fun exercise games in gym. We ended the day playing on the mountain. It was so much fun! We had a fun day in Kindergarten!

Sewing Hearts

Today we sewed fancy hearts with Mrs. D. We used real needles. We are good sewers. The Gingerbread Man sent us a letter. He told us he was sad. He asked if it is alright to be sad. We talked about having different feelings. We talked about how we all can be sad and mad, frustrated and happy. We talked about what we could do if we were sad. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, I didn't Stand Up. We talked about helping our friends. We are bringing home a little book. We are learning popcorn words. The word we circled is our popcorn word (like). We will be making many little books. You can practice reading with me. It would be a good idea to make a special box where I can keep these home reading books. We practiced saying the numbers one less than. We practiced our letter sounds on the iPad using Montessori Crossword. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns We Can All Get Along. We had a fun day in Kindergarten

Making Bannock

Today The Gingerbread sent us the book, Bannock Bread Boy. We made our own bannock. Mrs. Kitson also read the book, Kokum's Bannock. Ask me who Kokum is. We talked about what equal means. We made a book about 5 and talked about different ways to make 5. We made our own bannock book. We practiced our letter sounds and watched a funny video about the letter Z. In music, we played drums and sang songs. We really like the song, Canada in my pocket. was so cold outside! We stayed inside for recess. We had a fun day in Kindergarten

Hawaii Day

Today was Hawaii Day in kindergarten. We had so much fun making Hawaiian crafts. We watched a little movie and had a special cupcake with a palm tree on it. We danced the hula dance. The girls did a special dance for the boys and the boys did a special dance for the girls. Mr. Weaver came and danced with us. It was an Aloha day in Kindergarten
