Finding our Special Tree

Today we went into the forest and we looked for our special tree. We will visit our tree throughout the school year. Mrs. Kitson read us the book,Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf. It was also about a special tree. We went for a nature walk in the woods. We stopped when we saw something interesting to share with our friends. We had a wonderful mask break. We stopped and took time to breathe in the fresh air. In the morning we practiced sorting objects in our math tubs. We talked about sorting by colour, size and shape. We played the sorting people game.We will be talking about other ways to sort too. We can look around our house and find ways that we sort things at home. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Chrysanthemum, by Kevin Henkes. Ask me about the book. We are learning about the sounds of the letters of the alphabet. We are looking at our names. We talked about the letter S today. Mrs. Kitson made up a silly story with snakes, spiders and a santa. You can make up a silly S story with me. I can help you come up with S words. We played with our treasure boxes and wrote in our lifebooks. We played duck, duck goose in the gym and moved to Bop till you drop, and Listen and Move . ​We sang grandma's glasses and There was a Little Turtle. It was a fun day in Kindergarten


Journey Sticks

Today we went into the forest and made our own journey sticks. We found our own treasures in the forest. We saw a bunny and frogs and a slug. It was so nice in the forest. In the morning, Mrs Kitson showed us the video, The Word Indigenous explained​. Mrs. Kitson read us the book,Raven's Feast . It talked about how everyone is special and how we all can be friends. We talked about sorting and we played the game, sorting people. We played a dice game. We are practicing looking at a dice and knowing how many dots there are without counting. We can count if we do not know how many there are. Soon we will be able to read the dice without counting. That is called subitizing.We had lots of fun in music. Ask me what songs we sang. We went to the gym and played duck, duck goose. Mrs. Kitson taught us the cree words for duck and goose (sisip,niska)​. We had a fun day in KIndergarten


Going on a Nature Hike

Today Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Treasure, by Mireille Messier, and Irene Luxbacher. Ask me about what the treasure was. We went out and found our own treasures in the forest. In the morning we talked about rainbows. We made our own ripped art rainbow. Our fingers are getting very strong. Mrs. Kitson did a science experiment. She made a rainbow grow .​ We also listened to the book, The Name Jar, by ​Yangsook Choi. ​Ask me about the story. We practiced singing the sounds of the alphabet. We played Captain's coming in the gym. We were very tired so we took a break and listened to a relaxing story about a fox. We had a fun day in Kindergarten.


Welcome to our KT Blog

Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Picture a Tree, by Barbara Reid. We made our own trees by ripping different colours of paper. Ripping paper is very good for developing our hand strength. We talked about sorting. We sorted with our math tubs. Ask me how I sorted? We talked about germs We watched a the video book, Do not Lick this Book.Mrs. D put sparkles all over our hands and we practiced washing our hands to make sure we got the sparkle bugs off. We talked about feelings and matched feeling faces to photographs and talked about what made us mad, sad and scared. In the gym we played the game, Listen and Move. We had a fun day in Kindergarten!
