Today Mrs. Kitson read the book, A Poppy is to Remember. We talked about how we remember all the soldiers and families that were affected by war. Today we learned about The Diwali Celebration. We learned that people celebrate different holidays. We watched an artist make a Rangoli. We made our own Rangoli out of coloured sand. It was lots of fun. We played Domino war. We talked about the letter D. We listened for the d sound in our friends' names. In Music we played London Bridge is Falling Down. We talked about At the end of the day we went outside and played in the forest. It was a great day in Kindergarten.
Today we looked closely at pictures of tree trunks. We remembered from our walks in the forest that the bark of the trees is made up of a lot of colours and textures. We drew tree trunks. Mrs. Kitson read the book, Duck on a Bike. We had to predict what would happen at the end of the story. When you are reading a story to me you can stop and ask me what I think would happen next. We talked about the letter M. We learned about our friends that have an M in their name. We listened to the grade 6 classes tell us the story of The Gingerbread Man in French. We had a fun day in Kindergarten.
Today we learned about the artist, Georgia OKeefe. She liked to paint big flowers, bones and mountains. She also painted tall buildings. She said she likes to look closely at nature. She wanted to show everyone how beautiful nature is. We looked closely at poppies. We used special pastels to draw our poppies. We are making them for Remembrance Day. We played a fun sorting game. We had to figure out what Mrs. Kitson's sorting rule was. We had fun playing with marble works and playing with bones in the sand table. Georgia is right. Bones are cool. We had a fun day in Kindergarten.
Today we had a fun Halloween party. We decorated cookies, made monsters and witches. We even made a popcorn hand. We played Halloween games in the gym. We danced and we had a fun bopping ball race. We watched a Halloween video and had some sweet treats. Thank you to all the parents that sent Halloween goodies.
Today we talked about the letters i and t. We talked about how i does not always make the same sound. We looked at our friends' names and noticed that some of our friends have secret i's. Some i's make the sound of e. (ie at the end of our friends' names. We only had one friend that had a t in his name and he also had a secret t because it was beside a h and we learned th makes a special sound. We practiced our rhyming and our syllables. We had fun playing in the Halloween centers. We went outside in the woods and went for a long walk. We looked at how different all the trees were. We had a fun day in kindergarten.
Today Mrs. Kitson read us the story, Van Gogh and the Sunflowers. We looked at paintings that Vincent Van Gogh painted. We went to the garden and picked our own sunflowers. We looked closely at the shapes, the colour, and the lines of the sunflowers. We took time to feel the sunflowers. We drew the sunflowers with pastels and chalk pastels. We made sunflowers at our beautiful stuff center. We learned a new game called Power of 10. We are learning to see numbers of objects without counting. In gym we danced, skipped, galloped and played, The Floor is Lava. In the afternoon Mrs. Kitson read us the book, The Giving Tree. We went outside an picked our own special tree. We are going to watch it change through the seasons. It was a fun day in Kindergarten.
