Today we watched a video. It was called, A horse Called Steve. We played a game where we had to buzz in and give an answer to questions about the story. We talked about the new vocabulary words: exceptional, drenched and devastated. Reading storybooks helps to build our vocabulary. We played the brain game. We practiced separating words into syllables. We practiced listening to the beginning and ending sounds in words. We also listened for rhyming words. We played a new game called Power of 10. We learned a new word, subitizing. It means seeing a number of objects without counting. We are using that skill when we are playing the power of 10 game. We made cool things out of wire. We had fun playing in our Haunted House. It was a fun day in Kindergarten.
Today Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Duck on a Bike, by David Shannon. Mrs. Kitson stopped reading the book and asked us what we thought was going to happen next. We learned what the word prediction means. When you read story books at night it is a fun idea to try this. Ask me what my prediction was. We made cool pictures with beautiful stuff. We talked about the letter P. No one has a P in their first names. Two of our friends had P's in their middle name or last name. We are started to learn why our parents picked our names. We played a game with dominoes. We played Chitter Chatter with Mrs. D. We also practiced telling our own stories. In the gym we did an exercise video for kids. We were so tired and thirsty. It was a good workout. We had fun playing at wonder time in the afternoon. It was a fun day in Kindergarten.
Today Mrs. Kitson read us the story of The Gingerbread Man. We made our own gingerbread dough and cookies. We talked about all of the ingredients. We looked at ginger root and nutmeg. When we went to get the Gingerbread cookies out of the oven the big gingerbread man was gone. We walked all around the school looking for him. We even asked many kids and teachers if they had seen him. We don't know where he went. Our cookies were yummy! It was a sweet day in Kindergarten
Today we cooked the purple potatoes from our garden. We made fried potatoes. We learned how potatoes are planted and how they turn into chips. We talked about Thanksgiving and drew a picture of what we are thankful for. We listened to Raffi's song, Thanks A Lot. We cooperated with our friends and built structures out of cardboard. We played clock dominoes. We had to match the number of pips to a numeral on a clock. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Me First. Ask me about the sand witch. In music we played the symbols. to the song, The Syncopated Clock by Leroy Anderson.We had a fun day in kindergarten.
Today Mrs. Kitson read us the story, Van Gogh and the Sunflowers. We looked at paintings that Vincent Van Gogh painted. We went to the garden and picked our own sunflowers. We looked closely at the shapes, the colour, the lines and we took time to feel the sunflowers. We drew sunflowers in our nature notebook and we drew the sunflowers with pastels and chalk pastels. We made sunflowers at our beautiful stuff center. In the afernoon we went out to the garden and dug up all the potatoes. We had a fun day in kindergarten
Today we acted out the story, The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We love acting in our own plays. We looked at our names on the smartboard. We noticed that most of our names have an a. We also noticed that only three of our friends have an s in their name. We practiced making the a sound and the s sound. Did you know that a makes two sounds? We sing the Better Alphabet Song everyday. We listened to a book by an author who used to go to our school. The book is called Bad Dog by . It is a funny book. It is so cool that he used to go to our school. We played a dice game. We will be learning to see numbers without counting. Using dice is a fun way to learn this skill. We had fun playing with balls in the gym. It was a fun day in kindergarten.
