A Walk in the Woods
Today we talked about the letters i and t. We talked about how i does not always make the same sound. We looked at our friends' names and noticed that some of our friends have secret i's. Some i's make the sound of e. (ie at the end of our friends' names. We only had one friend that had a t in his name and he also had a secret t because it was beside a h and we learned th makes a special sound. We practiced our rhyming and our syllables. We had fun playing in the Halloween centers. We went outside in the woods and went for a long walk. We looked at how different all the trees were. We had a fun day in kindergarten.

Van Gogh's Sunflowers
Today Mrs. Kitson read us the story, Van Gogh and the Sunflowers. We looked at paintings that Vincent Van Gogh painted. We went to the garden and picked our own sunflowers. We looked closely at the shapes, the colour, and the lines of the sunflowers. We took time to feel the sunflowers. We drew the sunflowers with pastels and chalk pastels. We made sunflowers at our beautiful stuff center. We learned a new game called Power of 10. We are learning to see numbers of objects without counting. In gym we danced, skipped, galloped and played, The Floor is Lava. In the afternoon Mrs. Kitson read us the book, The Giving Tree. We went outside an picked our own special tree. We are going to watch it change through the seasons. It was a fun day in Kindergarten.

Where did The gingerbread Man Go?
Today Mrs. Kitson read us the story of The Gingerbread Man. We made our own gingerbread dough and cookies. We talked about all of the ingredients. We looked at ginger root and nutmeg. We learned where cinnamon came from. When we went to get the Gingerbread cookies out of the oven the big gingerbread man was gone. We walked all around the school looking for him. We even asked many kids and teachers if they had seen him. We don't know where he went. Our cookies were yummy! We learned all about bus safety too! It was a sweet day in Kindergarten

Potatoes and Ketchup
Today we cooked the purple potatoes from our garden. We made fried potatoes. We also made ketchup from our garden tomatoes. We learned how potatoes are planted and how they turn into chips. We talked about Thanksgiving and drew a picture of what we are thankful for. We listened to Raffi's song, Thanks A Lot. We cooperated with our friends and built structures out of cardboard. We played clock dominoes. We had to match the number of pips to a numeral on a clock. We listened to the book, The Couch Potato. In music we played the symbols. to the song, The Syncopated Clock by Leroy Anderson. We had a fun day in kindergarten.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff
Today we acted out the story, The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We love acting in our own plays. We looked at our names on the smartboard. We noticed that most of our names have an a. We also noticed that only two of our friends have an s in their name. We practiced making the a sound and the s sound. Did you know that a makes two sounds? We sing the Better Alphabet Song everyday. We listened to a book by an author who used to go to our school. The book is called Bad Dog by . It is a funny book. It is so cool that he used to go to our school. We played a dice game. We will be learning to see numbers without counting. Using dice is a fun way to learn this skill. We had fun playing with balls in the gym. It was a fun day in kindergarten.

Leaves, Leaves,Leaves
Today Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Stuck, by Oliver Jeffers. It was very funny. She also read the book, Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Elhert. We went outside and made a design with leaves. We made our own leaf print. We used a real hammer to make our print. In the morning we had a very nice substitute teacher. She read us the story, The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We acted out the story. We cut up pictures of the story and put the pictures in the right sequence so we can retell the story. We practiced sorting with our math tubs. We told our own special stories in our lifebooks. In gym we played a fun running game where we had to make different sized groups. It was a fun day in kindergarten.
