Terry Fox, Learning about Heroes
Today Mrs. Kitson talked to us about Terry Fox. We watched a video about him. We talked about what we could do to be nice to people. We talked about ideas to help Terry Fox. We thought we could do chores to make money to give to Terry Fox's foundation. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Breathe. Ask me about the book. We practiced different ways of breathing. Ask me about the bunny breathe. We talked about making our own stories during story maker time. We stopped and shared our stories. Some of our friends made stories with found objects. Some of our friends made pictures and books. Some of our friends told stories. In the afternoon we went to the garden and picked tomatoes. We looked at all the different plants in the garden. We had fun painting, singing, and playing. It was a fun day in Kindergarten.

The Legend of The Three Sisters
Today Mrs.Kitson talked to us about The Three Sisters' Garden that last year's Kindergarten class planted. We learned that The Three Sisters' Garden has corn, squash and beans growing in it. We watched the story of The Three Sisters on the smartboard.also picked carrots. We made zucchini, carrot muffins. We used our sense of smell to guess what some of the ingredients were. We recognized cinnamon and we learned about nutmeg. We had fun telling our stories during story making time. We made stories with blocks, playdough, found materials and of course we made lots of pictures and books. We liked sharing our stories with our friends. We had fun in gym class. We played Captain's Coming. Ask me about the game. In the afternoon we played in the Maker Space and in the house center. We picked out a library book today. When we bring back our book we can take another one out. It was a fun and yummy day in Kindergarten.

Meeting New Friends
Today was the first day with all of our kindergarten friends. We played games to learn our names. We learned the Nursery Rhyme, Jack Be Nimble. We practiced saying the nursery rhyme with all of our names. We even jumped over a pretend candle stick. We will be learning many Nursery rhymes in the next two months. We had our pictures taken today. We played at different centers. We played with the math tubs, and with lots of finger fun toys. We played in the house center, the water table and the sand table. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Pout, Pout Fish Goes to School. We went to the gym and practiced many ways to move our bodies. We had a fun day in Kindergarten.
A Note from Mrs. Kitson
Rhyming is an important Early Literacy skill. We will be reading many different Nursery rhymes, and rhyming books. You can play rhyming games at home with your child to reinforce this important skill.

The First Day of KIndergarten
It was a great to see our new Kindergarten friends. We started the day with a sharing circle. We played games to learn our names. We read the book, Tom Goes to Kindergarten. Ask your child about what Tom's parents did? The children played at centers. They painted, built structures, drew pictures, and played with different sensory materials in The Makerspace. The children had fun with Mrs. Grau during music class. In the gym. the children moved around like different animals. We also played the game duck, duck goose. We learned the Cree words for duck and goose. (Sisip, niskak ᓂ)
Our first day for all KM students is Wednesday, September 8th. It is an early dismissal day. Dismissal time is 1:35.

Welcome to Fultonvale Kindergarten
Mrs. DeHaan and I are very excited to meet our new kindergarten friends. We will be outside to meet the buses and take the children over to the small playground near the Olympiette Center. If you are driving we will meet you at the park.
We look forward to having a great day filled with fun and friends!
