Today we went to the garden and picked a big zucchini and some rainbow carrots. We looked closely at the carrots and we drew what we noticed in our nature notebooks. We made mini carrot and zucchini muffins. They were yummy. We made a special card with our name on it. Our grade 2 teacher Mrs. M is making a big bulletin board with all of our names all together. It is the Fultonvale Family! We watched the video, The Carrot Seed. Ask me about the story! We learned that it is a good idea to be patient. We had fun at Wondertime. We wrote letters to our friends. played in the house, played with the train and many other fun things. We had a great day in Kindergarten.

Please dress your child for the weather. It is cold in the morning. You should send your child in layers. We are outside in the morning for at least 15 minutes and we also have outdoor recess. If your child wears shorts or a skirt they should wear sweatpants also. Mittens may also be a good idea as many children complain of cold hands.

Permission Clicks: please sign the two forms that have been sent out to you as soon as possible. I have to confirm my volunteers.

Water Bottle: Please send your child with a water bottle daily. Make sure the water bottle is labelled.

Kanga Pouch: Please send the kanga pouch to school everyday. Please put any notes in the clear pouch. If you are picking up your child instead of having them take the bus please put a note in the clear pocket.

Today we went to look at The School Gardens. Mrs. kitson told us about The Three Sisters' Garden. In this garden there are three plants. Corn, beans and squash. The corn helps the beans. The beans grow around the corn stalks. The corn also helps the squash by giving the squash shade. We went to another garden and we tasted the cherry tomatoes. They are very sweet. In the morning we talked about the number 10. We made number stories with the boys and girls in our class. We made different ways to make the number 10. We all made 10 stories with our math boxes. Ask me to make 10 for you. We talked about the letter M. We looked at our friend's name that started with an M. We also met Word Bird. We named him Magic. Mrs. Kitson told us a funny M story. We helped her come up with M names. We drew pictures in our lifebooks. We had fun playing Listen and Move in the gym. It was a fun day in Kindergarten.

Today was our first day of Kindergarten. It was so much fun to meet new friends. In the morning we played a name game with a magic ball. Ask me what was magic about the ball. We played on two different play parks. We ate our snack and lunch outside in the sunshine. We played with trains, blocks, animals and we build our own special vehicles. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Tom Goes to Kindergarten. It was very funny. We had dance breaks and went to music class. In the gym we had fun moving different ways around the big gymnasium. We counted out 10 objects and told a 10 story. In the afternoon we had fun playing in the house, playing with cars and playdough. It was a fun first day in Kindergarten.

Teacher Note: if you have any questions feel free to email me. There is a note in your child's backpack regarding purchasing a kanga pouch. This pouch will be used to protect their library books and will be used to send paper information back and forth. You will also be receiving paperwork from the school in the upcoming days. In order to put your child's picture on the blog I need the FOIP form signed on your portal account.

Welcome to the 2022/2023 School Year. I am excited to see all the new Kindergarten children. If I have not already phoned you I will be phoning before your child's first day of school. If I am unable to connect with you I will send you an email and ask when a good time to talk would be.

Drop Off:

If you are driving your child the first day or all year. The drop off will be the little park by the Olympiette Center. The pick up will be on the corner of the sidewalks closest to the Olympiette Center.

Supplies:

You can send your child's supplies on the first day of school.
