The Little Red Hen

Today Mrs. Kitson read us the book, The Little Red Hen. We used a mortor and pestle to try to grind the wheat. We made buns. We watched a different video story about The Little Red Hen. We talked about what was different and what was the same about the stories. Mrs. Kitson also read us the book, The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza.Ask me about the stories. We are bringing home The Little Red Hen book. It has a lot of words so you can read it to us. We can read the part that repeats. We like making voices for the characters in the book. We are also bringing home a sequence sheet. We played two fun numeracy games. We are learning how to play fair and how to win and lose. We watched on TV the solar eclipse. We also watched a virtual field trip explaining all about the eclipse. It was a tasty day in Kindergarten.

Playing Board Games

In the morning we practiced reading our little books. We read books with the vowels, a, e , i , o and u. We are bringing home the book, Rub a Dub. Mrs. Kitson said it is really good to re-read our little books. We made words on our own white boards. We listened for beginning and ending sounds and listened carefully for the vowel sounds. We met a new Kimochi. Her name is Huggtapus. Ask me about our new friend.

Making our Marble Maze

Today we made our own marble maze. We talked about the different ways to make things move. We talked about what things move when you push and what things move when you pull. We talked about the vowel sound, O. We are bringing home a book. We like to read our books to you at home. We played a math game. We continue to practice subitizing. In the morning a para olympic athlete came and talked to the whole school. Her name is Lisa DeJong. You can see her snowboarding in the video. We touched a silver olympic medal

Happy Late St. Patrick's Day

Today Gingy sent us an email and told us his leprechaun friend, Larry was late coming to our classroom. He was busy playing with some of Gingy's friends. He left gold coins all over the floor in The Maker Space. He messed up the Maker Space too. He sent us a funny book about a leprechaun that got lost in the school. He also sent us a special treat. We had fun working on special St. Patrick's day activities. We went to the gym and played with the badminton raquets and baloons. It was a happy green day in KIndergarten.

The Science of Movement

Today we talked about why humans move. We talked about how sometimes we move just for fun. We made our own ribbons. We made up our own ribbon dance. Mrs. Kitson read us a story about indigenous dancing. We watched a video about how they tell a story through dance. We are bringing home a new book. We are practicing blending letter sounds to read words. I like re-reading my books at home. We are working in our lifebooks. We are clapping syllables and writing the sounds we hear. We like telling our stories in our lifebooks. It was a dancing kind of day in KIndergarten.

Moving Objects in a Variety of Ways

Today we talked about how we can move objects in a variety of ways. We made our own racetrack and moved our cars in different ways. It was pajama day today. We danced the pajama dance. Mrs. Kitson read us the book, Get out of Bed, by Robert Munsch. She also read us Interupting Chicken. Ask me about the books. The Gingerbread Man sent us an email and asked us to make him pajamas. He wanted the pajamas to have a pattern on them. We made him patterned pajamas. It was a cold but cudly day in Kindergarten.
